Is Today the Only Day of Salvation?

Many Christians have heard the phrase “today is the day of salvation” and assumed it means this life is the only chance anyone will ever have to be saved. But is that what the Bible actually teaches? Scripture reveals a far greater plan—one in which God is calling a small group now, while preparing to offer salvation to all people in the future. This study examines what the Bible truly says about the day of salvation, judgment, and God’s purpose for the billions who never knew Him in this life.

Before we explore the deeper questions of salvation timing, resurrections, and God’s plan for all mankind, let’s begin with what Jesus Himself revealed about who is called now — and who will be called later.

Is Today The Only Day Of Salvation?

If I Am Not Saved Today Do You Really Go To Hell?

Now Is Not The Day Of Salvation, The Only Time To Be Saved! If You Are Not Saved Now Are You Really Going To Hell? Absolutely Not! It is commonly believed among Christians that Jesus is trying to save everyone now. Is He really? If this is true, the numbers clearly show beyond refute that Satan is winning. If Jesus and Satan are in a giant battle, and if Jesus is more powerful as the Bible plainly says He is, then why is most of the world not Christian today? Why have millions of people died without ever having had an opportunity to be saved? Are they really going to Hell? Does that sound fair?

What Does The Bible Show Us About There Only Being Two Types Of People?

Are You One Of The LOST Or One Of The SAVED?

Most churches teach now is the only day of salvation, the only time to be saved, and If You Are Not Saved Now You Are Going To Hell! This is absolutely not true! Think about it. What about people that never heard the name of Jesus Christ and then die? What does the Bible really say about them? Would God be loving and just to condemn them to Hell? Many people cry over dead family members that never accepted Jesus, thinking they are actually now in Hell. The teaching that a person is either saved or lost now comes from the assumption that God is out to save the entire world today. They believe now is the ONLY time to be saved. They are 100% wrong!

Contrary to what churches teach, Jesus did not actually come to this earth the first time to call everyone to salvation. Surprised? Read the scriptures carefully and you will see this is true. He really only came to deliver God's message about salvation through Him, and the Kingdom Of Heaven. Jesus did not try to get everyone to believe His message at that time! Jesus did not try to get everyone saved! That's a fact completely supported by numerous scriptures.

Many people throughout history never actually heard the Gospel, and those who did hear it may not have really understood the true message, because Satan has deceived them. Are they going to hell?

Revelation 12:9: "So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him."

Notice the Bible actually says Satan deceives the WHOLE WORLD! Not just a few. Not just people who don't go to church. Not just people who never heard about Jesus, but the entire world! This even includes Christians that have been deceived by the false teachings Satan has infiltrated into almost all Christian churches.

Most people never had the opportunity to understand the real TRUTH in the Bible. So are they, through absolutely no fault of their own, "lost" forever? Did they miss out on their only day of salvation, the only time to be saved? No! The fact is, God does not intend for everyone to understand His truth about salvation at this time!

What Does The Bible Plainly Say About Jesus Speaking In Parables?

Did Jesus Use Parables To Make Things More Clear To The People?

Churches teach that Jesus spoke in parables to make His meaning more clear. The Bible plainly says this was NOT the reason. Jesus spoke in parables to HIDE the real meaning so most people listening would NOT understand, and not repent of their sins and be forgiven at that time.

Mark 4:10–12: "To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come in parables… lest they should turn, and their sins be forgiven them."

Matthew 13:10–13: "Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given… seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand."

Jesus explained the meaning of His parables ONLY to His chosen disciples. He plainly said He speaks in parables so others would not understand at that time. This truth is rarely taught in churches today.

Does The Bible Really Say Jesus Is Not Trying To Save Everyone Now?

If You Are Not Saved Today Are You Lost Forever To Hell?

Jesus often told those whom He healed not to tell anyone who healed them. Over and over again He said not to reveal who He was. If His purpose was to get everyone saved at that time, why hide His identity?

Matthew 8:4: "See that you tell no one."

Matthew 9:30: "See that no one knows it."

Matthew 12:16: "Yet He warned them not to make Him known."

Mark 5:41–43: "He commanded them strictly that no one should know it."

Mark 7:35–36: "Then He commanded them that they should tell no one."

Matthew 16:20: "Then He commanded His disciples that they should tell no one that He was Jesus the Christ."

If Jesus was trying to save everyone then (or today), this makes no sense. The Father did not want everyone to know who Jesus really was at that time.

What Does The Bible Actually Say About People Who Really Want Salvation Today?

John 6:44: "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him."

John 6:65: "No one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father."

Only a few are being called now — drawn by the Father — not for special favors, but for special responsibilities in the future Kingdom.

Does The Bible Actually Say Now Is The Only Day Of Salvation?

Is Now The Only Time To Be Saved?

Matthew 24:14: "This gospel… will be preached… as a witness… and then the end will come."

The Gospel was preached as a witness — not to save the world at that time.

2 Corinthians 6:2 is often misunderstood. Paul was speaking to the saints in Corinth — those already called. A better translation is: “Now is A day of salvation.”

If today were the ONLY day of salvation for everyone, God would be unfair. Billions never heard the Gospel. Millions of Christians were deceived. Would God condemn them all?

What Does The Bible Say About Everyone Having An Opportunity For Salvation?

Does God Have A Plan For Everyone To Be Saved?

Billions who died without knowing Jesus will be resurrected to mortal life AFTER the Millennium — the second resurrection — and THEN be given their opportunity for salvation.

Acts 10:34: "God shows no partiality."

2 Peter 3:9: "Not willing that any should perish."

1 Timothy 2:3–4: "Who desires all men to be saved."

God has a time order: Christ first, then Christians at His coming, then the rest of mankind later.

What Does The Bible Actually Say About A Second Resurrection?

What Is Its Purpose In God's Plan For All Mankind?

Revelation 20:4–6 describes the first resurrection at Christ’s return — and then says: "The rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished."

This second resurrection is to mortal life — giving billions their first real chance for salvation.

Those who never heard the truth are NOT lost. They will be resurrected, taught God’s law, understand the truth, and be given the opportunity to repent and receive eternal life.

Those who were deceived — including many Christians — will finally understand the truth without Satan’s influence.

But those who were truly called in this life and willfully rejected salvation will be resurrected in the third resurrection — to be destroyed in the Lake of Fire. No one gets a second chance.

Everyone will ultimately be called — some now, most later. God is just, loving, and merciful. His plan is perfect.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Bible teach that today is the only day of salvation?

No. Scripture teaches that today is a day of salvation for those God is calling now—not the only day. God has a future plan to offer salvation to all humanity.

What does “today is the day of salvation” mean?

Paul’s statement urges believers to respond to God’s calling now. It does not mean God is only saving people in this age or that others have no future opportunity.

Will everyone have a chance for salvation?

Yes. The Bible teaches that God desires all people to be saved and will resurrect the billions who never knew Him, giving them their first real opportunity to understand the truth.

Are people lost forever if they die unsaved?

No. Scripture shows that the dead will be resurrected and judged fairly by God. Those who never knew the truth will be taught His ways in the future Kingdom.

Does God only call a few people now?

Yes. Jesus said many are called but few are chosen. God is working with a small group now, but He will open salvation to all humanity in His appointed time.
