Should Christians Really Celebrate Halloween

What Does The Bible Really Say About Halloween?

Is Halloween A Pagan Holiday? What Does The Bible Actually Say? Should Christians Celebrate It In Any Way?

Should Christians Celebrate Halloween?

On October 31st each year people across the United States celebrate Halloween, or All Hallow's Eve. This has long been known as "The Festival of the Dead". Witches actually celebrate Halloween, as the "Feast of Samhain," the first feast of the witchcraft year when they attempt to communicate with the dead through various forms of divination. Occultists try to scare away evil spirits by carving a scary face into a pumpkin. This horrible visage would hopefully move the spirit on to another home and spare their home from destruction. Should Christians Celebrate Halloween?

Anton LaVey, the founder of the church of Satan, himself declared that by dressing up, wearing a costume or by coloring oneself when they celebrate this holiday, signifies that you actually allow Satan to own you. He further said that when you adopt the pagan practices of the Feast of Samhain, you really subconsciously dedicate yourself to the devil. He took joy in Christians who take part in this holiday tradition, saying: "I am glad that Christian parents let their children worship the devil at least one holiday in the the year." So should Christians Celebrate Halloween?

LaVey's statement is corroborated by a former Satanist, John Ramirez, who said that when you dress up even as an angel or a mermaid for Halloween, you actually give the devil the right to change your identity. Ramirez who actually described himself as a general to the kingdom of darkness in witchcraft, further warned that there's a much darker reality in this holiday of All Hallow's Eve beyond costumes and candy that most Christians are really totally unaware of.

What Is The Christian View On Trick-Or-Treating On This Holiday?

On this Halloween holiday children and adults alike dress up like witches, demons, zombies, and other assorted occult characters. Even good Christians take part in the darkness of Satan's world when they celebrate this night, actually presenting themselves as the exact opposite of God's image. What does the Bible really say when we celebrate pagan feast days? Is all of this really just harmless fun and fantasy? Does God actually care if we imitate evil on this holiday of the dead rather than casting off this day of darkness and all of its traditions and customs? You better believe it! This is what the Bible really says about this.

3 John 1:11; "Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good."
Ephesians 5:11; "Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them."
1 Corinthians 10:21; "You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons."
Romans 13:12; "The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light."

Satan is actually the master of deception. How does Jesus feel about us being deceptive and dressing up and say we are witches, devils, and demons, on Halloween, masquerading as evil? Isn't this kind of deception exactly what Satan does, pretending to be something spiritual that He isn't? What does the Bible say about this?

2 Corinthians 11:14; "And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light."

What Is The Biblical Perspective On A Pagan Holiday Like This?

On this holiday of All Hallow's Eve one of the main themes is witches, devils, and demons. God actually has a lot to say about witches, witchcraft, and sorcery in the Bible, all of it very bad! It's safe to say God really HATES the Pagan occult world and everything about it. Christians in the early church went so far as to burn their books about the occult. So does it make any sense to dress up like anything evil or dark, and pretend to be something we are not on Halloween, contrary to the good nature of God living in us through His Holy Spirit? What does the Bible say?

God says in Isaiah 1:14; "Your New Moon feasts and your appointed festivals I HATE with all my being. They have become a burden to me;"

These are pretty strong words from God about OUR festivals and new moon celebrations like Halloween. So should Christians celebrate Halloween when our Creator says He "HATES" it? That alone is reason enough NOT to engage in any Festival of the Dead holiday activities if you are a Christian and love God.

But there's more! What the bible says when we celebrate this day gets even worse.

Zephaniah 1:8; "On that day of judgment", says the LORD, "I will punish... all those following pagan customs".

God says He will PUNISH people, including Christians, on judgment day who followed pagan customs like Halloween during this life. Is it really worth it?

Here is more of the things the Bible really says about witches, sorcery and other occult things.

Galatians 5:19-21; "The acts of the flesh are …. witchcraft; …I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God."
Micah 5:12; "I will destroy your witchcraft and you will no longer cast spells."
Deuteronomy 18:14; "The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, the LORD your God has not permitted you to do so."
Leviticus 19:30-31; "Do not turn to mediums or necromancers; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them: I am the LORD your God."
Micah 5:12; "And I will cut off sorceries from your hand, and you shall have no more tellers of fortunes;"
Exodus 22:18; "You shall not permit a sorceress to live."
Isaiah 8:19-20; "When someone tells you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God?"
Acts 19:19; "And a number of those who had practiced magic arts brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all."

Some will say that when they celebrate this harmless holiday it is just a normal part of our culture in America. It's not serious pagan occult activity. No one is actually casting spells or really drinking blood. They are just taking part in the fun and fantasy of this day like everyone else. Church sponsored Trunk-O-Treat gatherings where kids get candy and other treats is just a sanitized version of this Pagan celebration. Christians should not do it!

How does God look at this? He plainly says in the Bible we are to come out from all of this and be separate from the worldly pagan customs and traditions of the unbelievers. What does the Bible really say? Should Christians Celebrate Halloween?

Romans 12:2; "Do not conform to the pattern of this world."
1 Thessalonians 5:21-22; "Abstain from every form of evil."
2 Corinthians 6:14-18; "what fellowship has light with darkness? What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? What agreement has the temple of God with idols? Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord."
1 Thessalonians 5:22; "reject every kind of evil."

The Bible Plainly Says We Should Resist Evil

The Bible says that Satan is our enemy and would love to destroy us. Our battle is with him and the powers of darkness like demons and evil spirits every day. For us to play around with evil pagan customs and traditions on All Hallow's Eve, Satan's favorite holiday, is pure foolishness that actually gives him an opportunity to pull us farther from God and into his pagan world without us even knowing it. Why would a Christian want to encourage their children to love a holiday of darkness and imitate the very evil that God says He hates so much? It doesn't make sense. This is what the Bible really says.

1 Peter 5:8; "Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour."
Ephesians 6:12; "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."
Ephesians 4:27; "And give no opportunity to the devil."
John 3:19-20; "And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed."

The Bible says Christians are to actually be the light of the world. We Christian adults should set the example. WE have the moral responsibility to teach children about the evil that comes with Pagan Halloween costumes, customs, and traditions, and NOT participate in them ourselves.

Matthew 5:14-16; "You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lamp stand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly father."

We Christians are the light of the world, so we should act like it all the time! Participating in Halloween gives sanction to a Pagan holiday that promotes witchcraft, divination, all forms of evil and other Pagan occult practices, so should a Christian really celebrate this occult holiday? The answer for any true Christian is obvious! Be a light!
