The Bible Says!

What Does The Bible Really Say About Christians Celebrating Halloween?

Halloween

Should Christians participate in Halloween in any way?
What does the Bible actually have to say about celebrating Halloween?
Is it really just harmless fantasy and fun for our children?

It's that time of year.  On October 31st each year people across the United States celebrate Halloween, or All Hallow’s Eve. It has long been known as "The Festival of the Dead." Witches celebrate Halloween as the "Feast of Samhain," the first feast of the witchcraft year when they attempt to communicate with the dead through various forms of divination. Occultists try to scare away evil spirits by carving a scary face into a pumpkin. This horrible visage would hopefully move the spirit on to another home and spare their home from destruction.

Anton LaVey, the founder of the church of Satan, himself declared that by dressing up, wearing a costume or by coloring oneself in celebration of Halloween, signifies that you allow Satan to own you. He further said that when you adopt the pagan practices, you subconsciously dedicate yourself to the devil. He took joy in Christians who take part in the Halloween tradition, saying: “I am glad that Christian parents let their children worship the devil at least one night out of the year.

LaVey’s statement is corroborated by a former Satanist, John Ramirez, who said that when you dress up even as an angel or a mermaid for Halloween, “you give the devil the legal rights to change your identity.” Ramirez who described himself as a general to the kingdom of darkness in witchcraft, further warned that there’s a much darker reality in Halloween beyond costumes and candy that most Christians are totally unaware of.

On this day, children and adults alike dress up like witches, demons, zombies, and other assorted occult characters. Even good Christians take part in the darkness of Satan’s world on Halloween. presenting themselves as the exact opposite of God’s image. What does the Bible really say about celebrating Halloween? Is all of this really just harmless fun and fantasy? Does God care if we imitate evil on this day of the dead rather than casting off this day of darkness and all of its traditions and customs? You better believe it!  This is what the Bible really says about this.
3 John 1:11; “Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good.
Ephesians 5:11; "Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them."
1 Corinthians 10:21; "You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons."
Romans 13:12; “The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.”

Satan is the master of deception. How does God feel about us being deceptive and dressing up and say we are witches, devils, and demons, on this day, masquerading as evil? Isn’t this kind of deception exactly what Satan does, pretending to be something spiritual that He isn’t? What does the Bible say?

2 Corinthians 11:14; “And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.”

On Halloween one of the main themes is witches, devils, and demons.  God and the Bible has a lot to say about witches, witchcraft, and sorcery in the Bible, all of it very bad!  It’s safe to say God HATES the occult and everything about it. Christians in the early church went so far as to burn their books about the occult. So does it make any sense to dress up like a witch and pretend to be evil on Halloween, contrary to the good nature of God living in us through His Holy Spirit? Listen to what the Bible has to say.

God says in Isaiah 1:14; "Your New Moon feasts and your appointed festivals I HATE with all my being. They have become a burden to me;" These are pretty strong words from God about OUR festivals and new moon feasts like Halloween. God says He "HATES" them. That alone is reason enough NOT to engage in any Halloween activities.

But there's more, and it's even worse.  Zephaniah 1:8; "On that day of judgment", says the LORD, "I will punish... all those following pagan customs".  God says He will PUNISH people on judgment day who followed pagan customs like Halloween during this life.  Is it worth it?

Here is more of what the Bible has to say about witches, sorcery and other occult things.
Galatians 5:19-21; “The acts of the flesh are …. witchcraft; …I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Micah 5:12; “I will destroy your witchcraft and you will no longer cast spells.
Deuteronomy 18:14; “The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, the LORD your God has not permitted you to do so."
Leviticus 19:30-31; “Do not turn to mediums or necromancers; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them: I am the LORD your God.”
Micah 5:12; “And I will cut off sorceries from your hand, and you shall have no more tellers of fortunes;
Exodus 22:18; “You shall not permit a sorceress to live.”
Isaiah 8:19-20; “When someone tells you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God?
Acts 19:19; “And a number of those who had practiced magic arts brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all.”

Some will say that celebrating Halloween is just a normal part of our culture in America. It’s not serious occult activity. No one is casting spells or drinking blood. They are just taking part in the fun and fantasy like everyone else. What does God think about this? He plainly says in the Biblewe are to come out from all of this and be separate from the worldly customs and traditions of the unbelievers. What does the Bible say?.
Romans 12:2; “Do not conform to the pattern of this world.”
1 Thessalonians 5:21-22; "Abstain from every form of evil."
2 Corinthians 6:14-18; “what fellowship has light with darkness? What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? What agreement has the temple of God with idols? Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord.”
1 Thessalonians 5:22; “reject every kind of evil.

The Bible says that Satan is our enemy and would love to destroy us. Our battle is with him and the powers of darkness like demons and evil spirits every day. For us to play around with evil customs and traditions on Halloween, Satan’s favorite holiday, is pure foolishness that gives him an opportunity to pull us farther from God and into his world without us even knowing it. Why would a Christian want to encourage their children to love a holiday of darkness and imitate the very evil that God says He hates so much? It doesn’t make sense. This is what the Bible says.
1 Peter 5:8;  “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
Ephesians 6:12; “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
Ephesians 4:27; "And give no opportunity to the devil."
John 3:19-20;  "And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed."

The Bible says Christians are to be the light of the world. We Christian adults should set the example. WE have the moral responsibility to teach children about the evil that comes with Halloween costumes, customs, and traditions, NOT participate in them ourselves.
Matthew 5:14-16; “You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly father.”

We Christians are the light of the world, so we should act like it all the time!  Participating in Halloween gives sanction to a pagan holiday that promotes witchcraft, divination, all forms of evil and other occult practices, so should a Christian participate in this occult holiday? The answer for any true Christian is obvious!  Be a light!

This is what the Bible says about Christians celebrating Halloween!
